In order to administer pain relief, educators must consider and ensure the following requirements have been met:
- The child is over 6 months of age
- An emergency where pre-existing conditions have been met
- The child does not have suspected gastroenteritis
- The child does not have a temperature of over 38 degrees
- The child is enduring pain and discomfort
- Educators have received verbal or written consent from the parent or guardian
- The medication is prescribed only to the child required
